Accessibility Statement
The short version
- We want everyone to be able to find an experience and get a pass. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
- The site is built to work with keyboards, screen readers, zoom and reduced motion.
- “Viewing options” lets you adjust text, contrast, motion and more. It’s an extra, not a replacement for an accessible site.
- Venues differ in physical access. Check the venue page or ask the venue before you go.
- Stuck? Email support@gettidepass.com. We aim to reply within 2 business days, and we can get you a pass by email.
1. Our commitment
Tyler Brock Jardine wants Tidepass to be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA across gettidepass.com, and we treat accessibility problems as bugs to fix.
Who runs Tidepass: Tidepass is a business name of Tyler Brock Jardine, a sole proprietor, 5120 Via Mindanao, Oceanside, CA 92057.
2. What we’ve done
- Semantic HTML: real headings, landmarks, lists and buttons, so screen readers can make sense of each page.
- Keyboard support: everything you can do with a mouse, getting a pass, checking in, managing an account, can be done with a keyboard.
- Visible focus: you can always see where you are on the page.
- Color contrast: text and controls are designed to meet AA contrast, and color is never the only way information is shown (for example, pass status is written out, not just green).
- Reduced motion: if your device asks for reduced motion, we turn off non-essential animation.
- Text alternatives: images have alt text, and videos we publish have captions.
- Accessible forms: labels, clear instructions and error messages that say what went wrong and how to fix it.
- Zoom and reflow: pages are designed to work when zoomed to 200% and on small screens.
3. Viewing options
Every page has a “Viewing options” button. It lets you adjust how Tidepass looks and behaves. It is a supplement to an accessible site, not a substitute: the site is built to work with your own assistive technology and browser settings without it.
3.1 What you can change
- Text size
- Line, letter and word spacing
- A readable, dyslexia-friendly typeface
- Contrast modes
- Color intensity
- Auto-fix faint text
- Underline all links
- A stronger focus outline
- A bigger pointer
- Reading guide and reading mask
- Tooltips
- Hide images
- Pause animation
3.2 Quick profiles
One tap applies a set of options: Low vision, Dyslexia, Focus/ADHD, Motor and Seizure safe. You can fine-tune any profile. Profiles are starting points, not medical advice: “Seizure safe” pauses animation and lowers color intensity on our pages, but it can’t control content from venues or video providers.
3.3 Your settings stay with you
Your choices are saved in your browser only. They are never sent to us, and they aren’t used to identify you. Clearing your browser data resets them.
4. Known limitations
- Venue content: venues supply their own photos and descriptions. We ask for alt text and clear writing and fix problems when we find them, but we can’t guarantee every venue item meets our standard.
- Venue booking sites: you book on each venue’s own booking site. Those sites are run by the venue or its booking provider and are outside our control.
- Stripe pages: venue card setup and partner payouts use pages hosted by Stripe, which follow Stripe’s own accessibility practices.
- QR check-in: check-in uses a QR code at the venue. If scanning is hard for you, ask venue staff for help, or email us before your visit and we’ll work out another way to check in.
5. Physical accessibility of venues
Venues are independent businesses, and their buildings, rooms and activities vary. Check the venue page for details, and contact the venue directly about entrances, seating, restrooms, service animals or changes to an activity. If a venue’s listing is missing or has wrong accessibility information, please tell us.
6. Other ways to get a pass
If any part of the site gets in your way, email support@gettidepass.com with the venue, experience, date and party size. We’ll create your pass and send it to you, with the same deal as on the site.
7. Feedback and help
Tell us about any barrier you run into, even small ones. Email support@gettidepass.com with:
- the page address (URL),
- what you were trying to do,
- what went wrong, and
- if you like, the browser, device and assistive technology you use.
We aim to reply within 2 business days, and we’ll let you know what we plan to fix and when.
8. If you’re not satisfied
We’d like the chance to fix it, so please contact us first. You don’t have to, though. You can contact a government agency at any time, for example:
- the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, which takes Americans with Disabilities Act complaints at civilrights.justice.gov; or
- the California Civil Rights Department, which takes complaints under California civil rights laws such as the Unruh Civil Rights Act, at calcivilrights.ca.gov.
This statement describes our goals and what we’ve done. It isn’t a promise that every page meets every standard at every moment, and “Viewing options” doesn’t by itself make any page accessible. Each venue is responsible for the accessibility of its own premises, booking site and experiences.
