Guests
How much do I save?
$10 off any listed experience when your party spends $40 or more at the venue's regular prices, before tax and tip. Alcohol doesn't count toward the $40 and can't be discounted.
Can I get more than $10 off?
Sometimes. Some venues choose to give more off bigger bills, like $25 off $150 or more. It shows on their listing and on your pass. You get the biggest discount your bill reaches, and your pass keeps the discounts shown when you grabbed it. Every venue gives at least $10 off $40 or more.
Is it really free?
Yes. You never pay Tidepass. You pay the venue its regular price, minus $10 when your party spends $40 or more before tax and tip. Alcohol doesn't count and isn't discounted. No cash value; not for sale.
Do I need an account or a card?
No to both. Your pass lives on your phone. Email is optional.
How do I check in?
When you arrive, scan the check-in QR at the front desk. Your pass turns green and says Checked in.
Where are my passes?
Open My passes on the same phone and browser you used. If you gave us an email, it's in your inbox too.
Can I change the date?
Yes, any time before the date on your pass. Passes work on their date only.
Can I combine it with other deals?
Not unless the venue says so. And it's one pass per party, per venue, per day.
The venue didn't honor my pass. What now?
Tap Report on your pass. We review every report, and it affects the venue's trust score.
Why doesn't my drink count?
State alcohol laws limit discounts and fees tied to alcohol sales. So at every venue, alcohol doesn't count toward the $40 and isn't discounted, and venues pay us no fee on it. You still get the $10 off everything else.
How do you rank venues?
Every venue goes through the same published formula. First, your filters (category, city, search words, party size, price) decide which venues show. Then Recommended order sorts them by trust score, highest first. Trust starts at 100 and drops for strikes and open problems, like passes not honored. A venue with a second strike also gets a ranking penalty. Ties go to the venue listed longest, then by name. You can also sort by price, newest or name. Paid spots are separate, few per page and always labeled Sponsored. Nobody can pay to move up, and venues owned by our founder get no special treatment.
Who owns Tidepass?
Tidepass is run by Tyler Brock Jardine, a sole proprietor doing business as Tidepass. Tidepass's owner also owns two venues listed here: Ragescape and Chopscape in Oceanside. Their pages say "Owned by Tidepass's founder." They follow the same rules, fees, ranking formula and review rules as every venue, and get no special placement.
Why does a partner say they don't earn anything?
Some partners hold licenses that don't allow referral commissions in California, like doctors, therapists, massage therapists, CPAs, public adjusters and public agencies. They can still share Tidepass as a perk, but they earn nothing, and their page says so. You still get the full $10 off.
Why do some listings say Sponsored?
Venues can pay for an optional Sponsored spot in Explore results or in the Sponsored picks row on the home page. Those spots are always labeled Sponsored, and only a few appear on any page. Paying never changes a venue's place in the regular results, its trust score, or its reviews and ratings. Sponsored venues follow the same pass rules as everyone else.
Venues
What do I pay?
15% of each confirmed visit, after the guest's discount and before tax and tip. Alcohol is never part of the fee. Nothing upfront, nothing per click and no required monthly fee.
Can I offer bigger discounts on bigger bills?
Yes, if you want to. In your listing you can add up to 3 bigger discounts, like $25 off $150 or more. You fund them, the same as the $10. Your fee is on the bill after the discount, so a bigger discount also lowers your fee. Passes already claimed keep the discounts they showed.
When am I charged?
Weekly, for last week's confirmed visits, on your card on file through Stripe.
Can I dispute a visit?
Yes. You have 72 hours after check-in to dispute or adjust a visit, with a reason.
Do you need access to my booking system?
No. We prove visits with pass codes and guest check-ins. No API keys and no guest card numbers.
What are mystery shops?
Test visits we may make at any time to check that passes are honored. Honest venues have nothing to worry about.
What's a trust score?
A score from 0 to 100. It starts at 100 and drops for strikes and open problems, like passes not honored or visits that don't add up. It goes back up as problems are resolved. It's the main factor in Recommended order.
Venue upgrades
What upgrades can venues add?
Pro listing (video, more photos and insights export), a Sponsored slot in one Explore category, Featured on home, Partner spotlight, and Partner Boost. All are optional.
How does billing for upgrades work?
Upgrades are monthly and charged to your card on file. Cancel any time and the upgrade runs to the end of the month you paid for.
Who can buy an upgrade?
Venues in good standing: live, paid up and with no open strike. We can turn off an upgrade if that changes.
What is Partner Boost?
You choose to pay a slightly higher fee on confirmed visits, and partners earn more on the guests they send you. There's no upfront cost, and you can turn it off any time.
Can I pay to rank higher?
No. Organic ranking can't be bought. Paid spots are separate and labeled Sponsored. We don't charge per click.
What's in Insights?
Views, impressions, clicks, claims, check-ins, visits, conversion and cost per visit, by source, partner and campaign. Every venue gets it.

Businesses
What is the business partner program?
Hotels, rentals, gyms, salons, employers, apartment communities, cafes, event planners and shops can offer Tidepass as a free perk. Their guests save $10 when they spend $40 or more before tax and tip (alcohol excluded). Most businesses earn on every verified visit.
What do businesses earn?
Lodging businesses earn 9% and other businesses earn 7% of each verified visit, after the $10 off and before tax and tip. Paid weekly through Stripe.
What do businesses get?
A co-branded page with their logo and colors, tracked campaign codes for each placement, simple analytics, and a print and share kit.
Do businesses see guest details?
No. They see totals only. Small groups of fewer than 5 visits are hidden so no one can be picked out.
Can any business join?
Most can. We don't accept cannabis, tobacco and vape, firearms, adult, gambling, payday lending, political, multi-level marketing or businesses aimed at minors. Healthcare and some other licensed professionals can share Tidepass as a perk but can't earn. Attorneys, real estate and financial pros can earn if they tell their clients.
